Feb 6th – Bob Marley’s Birthday

When I was 16 I subscribed to a club that let one buy all sorts of music CDs for extremely cheap as long as over the course of the year several more were purchased at full price.

I chose a few Bob Marley albums among others. Had never listened to him. Unfortunately, to my current shame, I had no appreciation for the man or the music when I listened to it. So I sent them all back.

I think my appreciation started to develop in my mid twenties. Probably kickstarted when I was getting drunk at NGO parties in the middle of the desert in north eastern Kenya. I guess I was expanding horizons or something.

Anyhow, I know I’m a day late with this, but Happy Birthday Bob. The world would be a better place if you were still in it. At least your music has been there all these years and will be there for many more to come.
