4 January 2007 - 17:01new year post

hope everyone is having a very happy new year!

its obvious to state that it is now 2007. but just like the beginning of every new year it is a bit difficult to fully appreciate and comprehend. that seems to take me about 12 months.

family

If i didn’t have my son, i think i would be a complete basket case at the moment. When I hold him in my arms and he looks up at me and starts laughing, all the stress, all the worry, all the frustrations I have just seem to fade away. being a papa is a wonderful thing.

news

somalia

The “Interim Government”(IG), backed by Ethiopian forces pushed the “Islamic Courts Union”(ICU) out of a large majority of areas that the ICU had been controlling. According to the IG, they believe the majority of the fighting is over. There is, however, fear that the ICU will attempt to carry out a guerrilla war similar to what is taking place in Iraq.

Sudan

It would be nice to hear some good news coming out of Sudan. Maybe I am just looking in the wrong places. Anyhow, the latest stories coming out are about rape and more people getting killed.

1. UN peacekeepings accused of raping very young girls in Southern Sudan.
2. Alleged lords resistance army rebels kill 13 in Southern Sudan.

I’m going to try and find some good news one of these days.
