early wednesday morning i woke up because i had a problem with my back. i stretched and did a number of things to get rid of the kink that had taken up residence just under my right shoulder blade. nothing worked. so i got up and took some paracetamal and then went to the toilet.

when i got back to my room, i began to climb into my bed in an attempt to get some more rest and try and deal with the pain in the morning. right before I climbed into the bed in the darkness, i noticed my mosquito net looked a bit bunched up on one corner and needed adjustment. I took my flashlight and shined it so i could see the thing i was fumbling with. it was at this moment that I also noticed a number of small black things crawling around on my sheets.

at first i thought it was just a few mosquitos or something that had found their way into the bed. but after further examination I discovered a large mess of black ants crawling on top of my bed and more of them coming up the side. i wasn’t happy.

it took me some time, but i located bugspray and went to war. now these ants are nasty. they have large pinchers at the their front and like meat. i would have been their dinner. but i destroyed them all and ruined my sheets in the process. but at least i was able to return to bed.

i was supposed to go for food with some friends today. but i got home and laid down and fell asleep and didn’t wake up until 9 this evening. jetlag is aggrivating. probably didn’t help that i stayed out a bit late last night either.:)

back to work and all the fun that goes with it. is nice though, don’t like being such a bum and doing nothing for long periods of time:)

nairobi weather is great. just around 75 degrees F. lovely, lovely.

im off to kenya again tomorrow. i am not looking forward to the flight. cramped in economy for 20+ hours and getting very little to no sleep. listening to the drone of jet engines and possibly dealing with turbulance that will throw my stomach into my mouth time and time again . i have seen the inside of a too many jumbo jets over this past year and can say that the less I have to see of them in the future the happier I will be.

ill end up in Sudan in about a weeks time. will be nice to get back to work and start feeling semi productive again. have the feeling lots of stuff will have to be done in a very short period of time. should be fun.

i am looking forward to getting away from all the cold. for the past three years cold has only ever been close to 60 degrees. not the freezing temps that have been entertaining me for the past four weeks. i have realized i like the heat.

anyhow, if things of excitement begin to take place, i will do my best to note them here. i now have a good digital camera so i will also do my best to get some photos of the surroundings i may find myself in and put them here for veiwing pleasure.

up until today the weather was wonderful. then it rained and the temperature dropped something like 30 degrees. ok maybe i exagerate.

sunday i was supposed to be flying back towards kenya/sudan for more fun in the sun. but i havn’t recieved payment yet and i am flat broke, so have decided to kick it in tejas for another week or so to wait for the cash flow to improve. hope this means i still have a job when i get back.

comment on tsunami. its a horrible thing that has happened and it is encouraging to see the generosity of so many nations and the action that is taking place to relieve the suffering. just hope that in middle of the barrage of information and images of catastrophe, that all the other places suffering from both natural and man-made disasters around this fine planet don’t lose out and end up being forgotten for another 20 years or so.

well, the site is looking a bit different than it was before. at least more of the functions are functioning at least a little bit. there are still a number of kinks I need to sort out though. anyhow…

2nd day. i havn’t gone to bed yet. but its very early in the morning of Jan 2.

today is the 1st day of 2005. wow.

its a saturday. new years wasn’t terribly exciting. i ended up falling asleep around 10:30 and woke up sometime around 1 a.m. so missed the whole shabang.

got my hair cut thursday. heres some photos. the photo thing is working funny at the moment, so bear with me. got to figure out the kinks.
