Nairobi Winter

By rob On 7/14/2009 · 2 Comments · In Kenya, Nairobi, Posts, Sudan

It felt almost cold when I stepped off the plane. Not too cold, but cold enough to throw on an extra layer or wear some long sleeves if one wanted. I havn’t felt cool like that for a long time.

A friend of mine hooked me up with a caravan flight from Juba to Nairobi last week.  His company had chartered the flight out of Nairobi and the plane was going back empty.  So myself and Abarizaa jumped on board and came back this way.

I couldn’t really tell if Abarizaa enjoyed the flight or no.  He wouldn’t let go of me the whole time, even when he was sleeping.  Surprisingly he slept the majority of the time.  He behaved a lot better than I had expected.

Its been wonderful to be back in Nairobi.  I’m back in my bed.  Amazing.  Our bed in Juba is small and the mattress is losing its comfort.  This bed is big and in excellentd condition.  And the bathroom.  Just having the ability to walk five feet in the comfort of my own room and relieve myself gives me pause to ever consider going back to Juba.  I will never again take for granted the joy of a flush toilet.

We have been here for almost a week.  A very lazy week.  Since saturday I have primarily been in the house watching the tele and a bunch of movies.  I am now caught up on a number of films that have come out in the past few years.  In retrospect I would have missed out on nothing if I had never seen them.  They all had great story premises, but crap story lines and disappointing delivery.

what next?  don’t know.  just hope it pays the bills
